General information about the Oakland Bears Travel Program (specific information and details will be provided to rostered players)
Practices: Each team will be scheduled for two weekly practices (one full ice and one shared), starting the first week in September and continuing throughout the regular season. No practices will be held during the weeks of November 24, December 22, and December 29. Other practices may occasionally vary depending upon team schedules and other general considerations.
Games: League games are scheduled bu the Northern California Junior Hockey Association (NCJHA), with approximately half of all Bears games (home) scheduled at the Oakland Ice Center, and the other half (away) at various rinks in Northern California depending upon the teams fielded within each division by other NCJHA clubs. Pre-season begins the weekend of September 27, and the final weekend of regular season games is March 7. The league takes a break from game scheduling during the week of Thanksgiving and the two weeks of Christmas and New Years.
Fees: The Oakland Bears offer two payment options for player fees: 1 - $1500 payable in full by September 1, 2008 OR 2 - $230 per month payable in seven monthly installments on the first of each month commencing September 1, 2008, with a last payment on March 1, 2009
Fees include: - Regularly scheduled team practices - Home game ice - All team registration fees for NCJHA, CAHA, and USA Hockey - Coaches stipend - One set of home and away Oakland Bears game jerseys
Fees DO NOT include: - Individual USA Hockey player registration - Practice ice and playoff fees for post-season play (if the team qualifies) - Tournament fees and costs (including coaches expenses) for games outside of the NCJHA schedule - Any individual expenses incurred in traveling to and from, and attending games or other team events - Any additional practice or other ice time acquired by the team outisde of the regular schedule of two weekly practices as described above
